Liberty Hill is located in Williamson County, Texas, approximately 30 miles NW of Austin. The 2000 census poll reported a population of only 1400, but that figure is on the rise. In the turn of the 19th century, Liberty Hill was founded with humble beginnings, attracting a community of settlers from South Carolina and Tennessee with the promise of free land grants.

Among the early pioneers were John and Amelia Bryson, who would build the first significant public building in Old Liberty Hill. Near to their home, the Bryson's built a log house that served as a community school house during the week and a church on Sundays. Before long, the town was growing, and the military personnel from Austin established a stagecoach stop in front of the Bryson home. And by 1853, Liberty Hill became an official Texas town with the Reverend W.O. Spencer as the post master.
