New Braunfels is located in both Comal and Guadalupe County, Texas, and is considered part of the greater San Antonio metro area. Comprised largely of German immigrant residents, the New Braunfels land area spans 29.4 square miles to include territory over the Guadalupe River. The 2000 census poll recorded some 31,000 residents, however, by 2007, that number was estimated to have jumped to more than 50,000 people.

New Braunfels, meaning "brown rock" in German, and has a sister city in Deutschland by the same name. From generation to generation, the residents hold near and dear their German heritage and influences, retaining many 'Old Country" traditions and the German language. Each year, the Texas town holds the Wurstfest, or sausage festival, and residents can be found cooling off at Schlitterbahn, the region's largest water park. Even some of the New Braunfels town publications were available in German copy through The Zeitung, translated as "the newspaper" in German, although discontinued after WWll.

New Braunfels is the place to own large lots of land, set in beautiful surroundings, with options of traditional older homes or brand new energy efficient ones. Real estate prices are best bargain deals for generous living spaces in one of the most scenic areas of the San Antonio metropolitan area.
