Pflugerville

Pflugerville is located in the Texas counties of Travers and Williamson, approximately 14 miles from Austin city center. Totaling 11.3 square miles, Pflugerville is approximately 15 miles from the Colorado River and a thriving suburb in the city of Austin. The 2000 census bureau recorded a population density of more than 20,000 residents and that number is on the rise. Businesses, however, seem to shy away from Pflugerville due to the additional taxes levied on the city as stated in a report from the Travis County tax office.

Pflugerville came into being during the mid 1800's when wealthy German immigrant, Henry Pfluger, Sr., purchased 160 acres of land. The city had its economic ups and downs over the next century, but would bounce back with vitality by the late 1960's, when the residents pushed for an official city status. 1970 was the year that Pflugerville became incorporated, elected its own mayor, and became a more attractive place to live.

Today, new construction and historic homes grace the tree-lined streets of Pflugerville, offering stylish housing on generous portions of land. The perfect setting for health and fitness buffs, Pflugerville is proud to provide recreational activities to enrich one's physical and emotional wellness through the city's 560 acres of parks, walking trails and community center. In addition, Pflugerville maintains a community garden open to any and all residents that would like to participate for a nominal fee.
